Pathologic Q Waves and Prolonged QTc Time in Preoperative ECG Are Predictive for Perioperative Cardiovascular Events

چکیده
Aims: The value of ECG in the perioperative risk stratification under modern treatment options is uncertain. The main objective of the present analysis was to determine the usefulness of a preoperative ECG derivation for evaluating the risk of perioperative morbidity and mortality. Methods: We performed a secondary analysis of the prospective, international, multicenter, observational “No-Risk” Study (N-terminal B-type natriuretic peptide [NT-proBNP] for the assessment of the perioperative cardiac risk after major noncardiac surgery) to determine the prognostic value of 12lead ECG. Inclusion criteria were age >55 years and at least one of the following cardiovascular risk factors: arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, active smoking, and family history positive for coronary heart disease. The combined primary endpoint included total mortality, acute myocardial infarction (NSTEMI and STEMI), cardiopulmonary resuscitation, heart failCorresponding author.

گزارش موردی نادر از دو شاخه شدن موج T در زمینه طولانی شدن قطعه QT ناشی از سندرم حاد کرونری
Introduction: Bifid T waves are seen in healthy young children and alcoholic adults. They also occur in certain pathological conditions, including organic heart diseases, and the central nervous system disorder. Myocardial ischemia can affect T wave morphology in a variety of ways one of which is t wave change as bifid t wave observed in QTc prolongation forms oc-curring in acute coronary event...
متن کاملPrevalence of pre-transplant electrocardiographic abnormalities and post-transplant cardiac events in patients with liver cirrhosis
BACKGROUND Although cardiovascular disease is thouht to be common in cirrhosis, there are no systematic investigations on the prevalence of electrocardiographic (ECG) abnormalities in these patients and data on the occurrence of post-transplant cardiac events in comparison with the general population are lacking. We aimed to study the prevalence and predictors of ECG abnormalities in patients w...
متن کاملProlonged corrected QT interval is predictive of future stroke events even in subjects without ECG-diagnosed left ventricular hypertrophy.
We attempted to evaluate whether subjects who exhibit prolonged corrected QT (QTc) interval (≥440 ms in men and ≥460 ms in women) on ECG, with and without ECG-diagnosed left ventricular hypertrophy (ECG-LVH; Cornell product, ≥244 mV×ms), are at increased risk of stroke. Among the 10 643 subjects, there were a total of 375 stroke events during the follow-up period (128.7±28.1 months; 114 142 per...
متن کاملLong-term prognostic value of the preoperative 12-lead electrocardiogram before major noncardiac surgery in coronary artery disease.
BACKGROUND Knowledge of the prognostic information of preoperative 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) undergoing noncardiac surgery is limited. METHODS The prognostic information derived from the preoperative ECGs of 172 CAD patients undergoing major noncardiac surgery was analyzed to determine its predictive value for long-term outcome. ...
متن کاملMacroscopic Visualization of the Heart Electrical Activity Via an Algebraic Computer Model
In this study, a mathematical model is developed based on algebraic equations which is capable of generating artificially normal events of electrocardiogram (ECG) signals such as P-wave, QRS complex, and T-wave. This model can also be implemented for the simulation of abnormal phenomena of electrocardiographic signals such as ST-segment episodes (i.e. depression, elevation, and sloped ascending...
